Heaven Bound

Where are you going?

I don’t know if you have ever traveled, but if you can recapture your experience; our lives are comparable to traveling.

When we fly on a plane or ride on a bus we leave our luggage (if we have any); and then we can only bring our carry-on or our smaller bags. By the time we enter the plane or bus, we have left our homes, our vehicles or transportation, and our larger luggage. If you can understand, we are also leaving our everyday life behind. Once we get on that plane or bus we understand we are departing to a final destination.

Next time you are traveling and you enter your means of transportation, try to see that moment as compared to the sum of all your life going to eternity as your final destination.

The traveling is symbolic to the understanding that eventually the life we know on earth will transition to life in the eternal state. The transportation symbolizes the in-between earth and eternity.

I really want you to hold that thought.

Do you really understand our destination is Heaven Bound. We are only in this world but for a moment. Once we get on that plane or bus, just about every physical item is gone, every emotional or physical trauma contained to a person or situation is just about gone, the legacy of who we are is just a memory, all of the creativity through love and passion are left behind, and most of our loved ones are left behind. It’s mostly just the sum of your life with a few personal items you will have when you sit on that airplane or bus.

Hardly anything matters at that point. It won’t matter how small or big our house was, the cost or amount of jewelry we had won’t matter, the cars we drove won’t matter, our education and job titles won’t matter, and how we performed according to worldly standards won’t matter.

Are you Heaven Bound? Are attached to anything or anyone on this earth more than God? Is your destination Heaven Bound or are you trying to store your treasure here on earth?

Some people live like they are on a vacation. Some people live like they are always competing to be seen or be the best. Some people live like they are giving the best performance; always pretending to be someone they are not and never getting to discover their true self. Some people live like robots, letting others think for them or tell them what to do. Some people live for money, fame, or recognition and will do ANYTHING to have it.

Do you understand whether you like it or not; you are headed for the airport or bus station and once you sit in your seat you will, one day, be headed for a true final destination? Are you living your life like you’re ready to meet God face to face?

Activity:

Ask God to help you count your days here on earth. Meaning, ask Him to help you to live the remaining of your days like you are preparing to meet Him. What are your current short and long term goals? Have you asked God if your goals align with His goals for you? Are you in the driver’s seat or is God? Surrender yourself, your life plans, your goals, and your dreams to Him. Invite Him into your inner being and in your life to take over you and possess you with His Holy Spirit and His purpose for your life.

Prayer Challenge:

Father God, I praise You and thank You for creating me and having a true purpose for my life. If the life I have lived up to this point has been out of alignment with You, please forgive me. Help me give the remaining days of my life over to You, to know You better and to be used by You. Help me to walk with You in intimacy and to not return to You void – but instead – return to You as a created being by You, allowing to complete the work You started in me. In Your Name Yeshua, Amen.

Scriptures:

Matthew 6:19-21 NASB 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
