Right now I am sitting in the car dealership waiting for the car to be serviced. As I am sitting here the television channel is airing a procession for two police officers who lost their lives.
Along with mentioning their educational accomplishments, some other words I heard describing these men were: Husband, father, great dancer, great guys…While I understand the process of losing a loved one is hard, I began to wonder.
This is a good reminder that our lives do not last on this earth forever. As I continue to live I do think about what I want to leave behind when my life is over on earth.
If you can think, try to think about that moment when you leave here and you meet Jesus face to face. At the end of it all, the sum of your life meets the eyes of the Creator.
I have reached a point in my life where I really want God to use my life to reach other people. I want to share Jesus with others in the way He chooses. I don’t know those men who died, and I have a feeling they probably didn’t think their lives were going to end on the day it did. We only have control over the choices we make. We only get this one life.
Do we want to be known by our work, education, the network of contacts we developed, doing good deeds, how many people liked us in the community, how trendy our clothes were, the car we drove, the house we lived in, all the posts or likes we got on social media, or all the materialistic things we connected ourselves to?
The reason we exist is to know God and walk our journey on this earth with Him. We are not here to compete with others, be the best, know the latest topics or trends, or climb the ladder to the next height in our accomplishments.
We get this one life to be impactful for His Kingdom. We get this one life to give to Him. We get this one life journey with Him, allowing Him to change us. We get this one life to stand up, at whatever cost, and say we believe in Him.
When it’s all said and done not one person will be with us when we face God, and we will not be able to blame anyone for our choices. Only Adonai will judge us. Will people know we lived our lives for Adonai, our God? Will people know we loved Adonai? Will people say they saw Adonai reveal Himself in our lives?
When you take your last breath and crossover to eternity, what do you want Adonai to say about you?
Matthew 10 26-28 NASB 26 “So do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the darkness, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Philippians 1 29-30 NASB 29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf, 30 experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in
Me.”
Activity:
Get to a quiet place and reflect on all areas of your life. While you still have breath in your body, what are some things you want to ask God to help you to work on? Ask God for a vision and purpose for your life. As He shows you bit by bit, start to write it down. It doesn’t matter how little or how big it is. For example, If it’s “Be nicer to other people.” Still write it down and begin to really be intentional to work on it. Even if it’s a commandment that you may think is too big – ask for His help. Overall, start asking God to help you to be the woman He created you to be and submit to His plan for your life. Writing it down helps because life may become blurry and it’s nice to have a place to come back to if you feel like you’re getting lost in life.
Prayer Challenge:
Father, I pray that You help me to see my life from Your point of view. Help me not to generalize or rationalize my sins or shortcomings. Please guide me to see my life through Your lens and show me the changes I need to make. Help me to recognize the areas where I am being challenged and help me overcome them through Your Holy Spirit. Father, I ask you to position my mind, thoughts, heart, and actions with Your mind, thoughts, heart, and actions. Help me to be the person you created me to be. I want to have a bond and relationship with You here on earth now and in eternity. I love You, Father, and I am surrendering my life to come under Your domain and authority. In the name of Yeshua, Jesus, I pray. Amen
Scripture:
Matthew 25:23 NASB His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’
