Treasures

Treasure – That something special you hold on to, not easily given away. It’s tucked away, hidden, lock and key. When we have something valuable and worthy of care, we will protect it; it will not be easily accessible to other people. We wouldn’t want someone to consider stealing it, using it, or mishandling it. We would guard it and protect it.

If you belong to God, then believe you are His treasure.

I remember being in my early 20’s and indulging the party life. At that moment in time I really believed I was having fun. Getting all dolled up and the excitement of doting over my outfit, not to mention the cute convertible I had with the music and accessories – I thought I was living. I thought all those days of my parents deciding when or where I could go was over. I had total freedom. The thrill of planning every night, doing the night, and finding the guy was fun and exciting and maybe a little addicting. It almost felt like I was living in a reality tv show. At some point, I remember realizing it was all a show and it seemed like fun, but it started to become routine, exhausting, and expensive. The party life is a hard life to live when you’re working and going to school. I began to feel empty. What seemed like so much fun left me wondering – if this was all there was?

I invited you into a portion of my past because I want you to see I lived like I wasn’t a treasure. I knew of God, I knew things about God, and I believe I had some small experiences with God, and I believed He died for my sins, but I was lukewarm.

I gave way too many people access to my mind, energy, heart, and time. I didn’t know how to carry myself with value. When you know your value and worth you are selective, you protect and guard your heart and mind, your watchful, you determine what you take in and what you leave out, you know when to walk away, you know when to stay, you know when to talk, you know when to be quite, you will create and maintain to the righteous and holy standard God designed for you.

I hope I can save you the time and answer the question I asked myself earlier in life. Was the going out life and party life all there was – was the highest point in life? The answer is absolutely not!

I believe with all my heart if you don’t know God intimately you are missing out on your overall purpose of existence. The entertainment of this world is meant to be exactly what it is – entertaining. However, not everything should be entertained. The enemy uses the entertainment of this world as bait. It looks appealing, fun, right, interesting, makes you feel like you fit in; but it’s a total deceptive scheme.

I hope your figure out a million dollar diamond isn’t sold at Claire’s. If you are a million dollar diamond why are you entertaining Claire’s. I know Claire’s within itself is a cheaper more accessible jewelry store, but for the nature of comparison, it serves you great purpose to know how the enemy will lure you into cheap and low end entertainment that looks good, dazzling, shiny, and expensive, but it’s cheap and will leave you with no value.

Activity:
Do you believe you’re valuable?
Reflection Questions:
Do you say you’re valuable but dress without modesty?
Do you say you’re valuable but date men who compromise God’s Words, treat you without respect or honor, words that don’t match the actions, lie to you, manipulate you, or try to control you?
Do you say you’re valuable but you hang out at bars and clubs?
Do you say you’re valuable but most of your friends are seeking to fit in or be seen as the majority of the world?
Do you say you’re valuable but your actions and faith say you’re lukewarm?

These questions may not be easy to answer, but it is worth your time to deeply reflect on yourself, your decisions, and your surroundings. The purpose of this activity is help you see – most people want to say they are valuable, but they don’t always act like it, and sometimes they are not willing to change anything to be valuable. Hopefully you can reflect with truth and see the areas of your life you may need to work on to carry yourself with the most value.

Prayer Challenge:
Father God, I pray that You help me seek higher ground and help me to know my value and my worth in Your eyes. Help me to walk out my life with Your banner of worth and value over me. Help me to not seek to fit in with this world, but rather, help me to seek Your Face and come to know Your wisdom and truth. Please help me to live my life with the want and desire to be a woman of value. In Your Name Yeshua, Amen.

Scriptures:
Matthew 6:26 NASB 26 Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?

1 Peter 2:5 NASB 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 28:16 NASB
16 Therefore this is what the Lord God says:
“Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
A precious cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed.
The one who believes in it will not be disturbed.
