THINK God’s Word & READ God’s Word

Exodus 1:8-14 NASB

8 Now a new king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And he said to his people, “Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. 10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, otherwise they will multiply, and in the event of war, they will also join those who hate us, and fight against us and depart from the land.” 11 So they appointed taskmasters over them to oppress them with hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh storage cities, Pithom and Raamses. 12 But the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out, so that they dreaded the sons of Israel. 13 The Egyptians used violence to compel the sons of Israel to labor; 14 and they made their lives bitter with hard labor in mortar and bricks and at all kinds of labor in the field, all their labors which they violently had them perform as slaves.

In the above scripture verses 9-10 the new king over Egypt spoke these words over Israel which led others to follow him in the induction of Israel becoming slaves in Egypt. They were mistreated. They spent years in this condition, but God heard their cries.

Exodus 2:23-24 NASB

23 Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage ascended to God. 24 So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

In their pain God heard them and used Moses and Aaron to free them as slaves. God gave Moses the words to communicate to Pharaoh. Of course Pharaoh didn’t want to let them go as most oppressors and abusers don’t. God sent 10 plagues on Egypt to make Himself known as the one and only true God.

Despite all the hardship they endured as slaves, when God set them free they still complained.

Numbers 11:4-6 NASB

4 Now the rabble who were among them had greedy cravings; and the sons of Israel also wept again and said, “Who will give us meat to eat? 5 We remember the fish which we used to eat for free in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna!”

Israel used their words to complain about what God had given them, as they compared His provision to their provision as slaves. I believe God was more concerned about teaching them who He was, changing the mindsets they gained in Egypt, and having a relationship with them by dwelling with their inner person. He had to teach them who He is, and how to worship Him.

Has God heard your cry? Whether you were bullied, abused, rejected, hurt, or experienced trauma, I believe when we cry out to Him – He hears us. God knows about the hurt we have experienced, but the bigger fight may be within us. I don’t think He is only interested in changing our environment, but I believe He is also interested in words, walls, and beliefs we have built up based on what we have been exposed to or endured.

How He chooses to start our inner self improvement, and the journey for healing and freedom from our chains is up to Him. I want to encourage you, as you may be a work in progress – keep your eyes on Him and learn His Words which leads to true deliverance in your heart, mind, and actions.

Activity:

What words are you holding on to that are not true? Sit down with God and ask Him to help you remember the words you believe internally about yourself and God, ask Him to help you weed out the words that are not true. This may require you to think about what you say to yourself when you’re alone, when you make a mistake, when you set goals.

How do you feel when you’re  around your loved ones, friends, coworkers?

How do you feel at social events?

Do you feel comfortable or do certain people or situations trigger you to feel ashamed, low, not valuable, not good enough, rejected, or not appreciated?

When are you the most critical of yourself?

Who are the most critical people in your life?

When it comes to God….

How do you see God?

Is He believable?

Does He love you?

Do you have trouble trusting Him?

Do you feel like He made a mistake towards you?

Do you feel like He is out to get you?

Do you believe His words are true for others?

Do you believe His words are true for you?

Do you really believe He has a plan for you or are you just taking up space on this planet?

Do you know Him as a Father?

Do you know Him as a friend?

Do you believe He has forgiven you of your sins?

Do you believe He cares for you and the details of your life?

In this activity it’s important to take inventory and examine your truth and your thoughts. These are questions you should ask yourself and be honest with yourself. God already knows the answers. The perception of yourself and God has a lot to do with your mindset and if you look at your future with hope or with “what’s the point.”

You have to do hard work. God makes His Word available to us. He gives us wisdom if we ask and He gives us the Holy Spirit if we want to be filled. In time of healing and rebuilding us we have to make the choice to build with the right stuff. Our foundation has to build on Him. Healing and rebuilding are a time to tear down the high places in our hearts or minds that’s not true. Your words are life or death.

Prayer Challenge:

Father, please bring to memory the words or thoughts about myself that I have held on to be true. Please help me come to out of agreement with those words or thoughts about myself that’s not true. Help me to see me how You see me. Help me to love me how You love me. Please led me to the scriptures that You want me to speak over myself and believe for myself. In Your Name, Yeshua. Amen.

Scriptures:

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will
